Give your brain a break! This is a simple concept called “jamming”
Most of us are hyper-focused on our power chords, bend techniques, and memorizing solos and we forget to give our brain some rest time!
Take one of your practice days once a month, and play ALL of the songs and riffs you’ve learned lately. If you know a lot of riffs, then make a list.
This gives us a moment to enjoy the skills we’ve spent all month working on, and to remind ourselves how far we’ve come along on the guitar journey!
It’s a great way to get some practice time in without feeling like we’re stuck to a schedule. As mentioned before, it’s a great reminder of all the skills you’ve developed up until this point and it’s a great springboard for anything you’re looking to tackle next. Plus I love playing some tunes by my favorite bands. It’s a good reminder why we all picked up this instrument anyway.
Enjoy!
